Guaranteed Asset Protection: Bridge the GAP in Your Coverage
No one likes to think about having their bike stolen or totaled in an accident - but the fact is, it can happen. And if it does, there's something you should know: Your insurance company may only reimburse you for the actual cash value of your motorcycle. This amount could be substantially less than the outstanding balance on your loan. This difference between what you owe on your loan and what your insurance company will pay is what's known as the "gap", and its money that you'll have to pay - unless you get the Harley-Davidson® Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) Plan. H-D Theft Protection.
Having your motorcycle stolen isn’t just a hassle; it could also involve unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. Harley-Davidson® Theft Protection protects you and your asset by helping law enforcement quickly identify your stolen motorcycle — aiding in recovery and, if necessary, helping you purchase a replacement bike. Our MicroDot identification system (each dot is less than 1 mm across and invisible to the naked eye) utilizes a unique PIN code that fluoresces under UV light and is discreetly placed on parts of the bike. This makes them easier for law enforcement to identify so recovered motorcycles can be returned as quickly as possible.
Should H-D™ Theft Protection not lead to motorcycle recovery, customers can take advantage of the included replacement benefit — up to $5,000 applied toward the purchase of a replacement unit.
H-D Appearance Protection
If you’re like many riders, your motorcycle’s appearance is as important as its performance. With Harley-Davidson® Appearance Protection you can keep your bike looking as good as the day you rode out of the dealership. Our special Harley-Davidson Protector treatments guard against elements you’ll encounter on the road, safeguarding your motorcycle’s most important paint, chrome, leather and vinyl surfaces.
- Paint and Chrome Protector - guards against cracking/peeling paint, loss of gloss, damage caused by insects, bird droppings, tree sap, sun exposure and more
- Leather and Vinyl Protector - repels stains, defends against weather-induced or ultraviolet-induced weakening of the leather/vinyl that may result in cracking, loose stitching, rips or tears
